What is the Halifax School Finder
The Halifax School Finder is used to help parents / guardians and future parents to find which Halifax Regional Centre for Education schools their children will attend. This is based on the address they reside at. It is an exceptional tool for relators, parents / guardians and anyone moving to a new area within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
How to use the Halifax School Finder
To use the Halifax School Finder please enter your street name in section B, select it from the pop-up and click that you are not a robot. Now press “Find my Schools”. After you press “Find my Schools” select the option that represents the number of your home
What Information Does Halifax School Finder Provide
After you press “Find my Schools” and select the option that represents the number of your home you will see the elementary, junior & senior school options for English speaking children. You will also see the options for early French immersion elementary, junior & senior school options. Click on each of the schools to get information such as address, principal & vice principal, if it is wheelchair accessible and the website for the school. Each school also provides walking and driving directions.
What schools do not show up on the Halifax School Finder
The Conseil Scolaire Acadian Provincial (CSAP) schools do not show up on the Halifax School Finder. CSAP is the only francophone school board in Nova Scotia. It serves the entire province with twenty-two schools and 19 preschools. It offers education in French as a first language. Besides CSAP schools, private schools also do not show up on the Halifax School Finder. There are traditional private schools in the HRM such as Ambrae Academy, Scared Hart School of Halifax, Halifax Independent School & Bedford Academy. Halifax also offers 3 schools that teach the Montessori method (Atlantic Montessori School, Maple Tree Montessori School & Montessori Children’s Home). Shambala School which is based on Shambala Buddhist principals is also located in Halifax.
Outside of HRM there is Kings Edgehill School which offers a day school option and a boarding school option. Open since 1788, Kings Edgehill was the first Independent school in Nova Scotia.
